Novak Djokovic; the world’s no.1 tennis player

Novak Djokovic is the highest-ranked tennis player of these days. Novak Dj is a Serbian professional tennis player, who is the best in the tennis field. The association of tennis professionals (ATP) has ranked the tennis star Novak as number 1 player of men’s single in tennis.

Struggles of Early Life:

This legendry player was born on May 22 in the year 1987. His birthplace was Belgrade in Serbia. Novak had a good family background. His father Srdjan and mother Dijana were the owners of the corporate household Sports that had three restaurants and an academy for tennis training. Novak Djokovic was a professional player of tennis but his father, uncle, and aunt were all skiers.

In the year 1993, at the age of 6, he was at his parents’ sports complex where Yugoslavian tennis legend Jelena Gencic spotted him. Gencic then trained Djokovic for the following six years. By the time he reached 12, he had applied to the Pilic Tennis Academy in Germany to pursue higher levels of competition as Gencic realized that the young player needed a better match. He spent four years there.

During this time, the war in former Yugoslavia and also the bombing of Belgrade continued, for almost three months. Djokovic, along with his family, used to spend a portion of the midnights in the basement. Novak Dj told that the difficulties he faced during the war encouraged him to pursue tennis with even more determination. Novak Dj completed his graduation from a high school in Belgrade, and that was the end of his academics. Although it was one of his dreams to go to some university as he liked the idea of educating oneself and being part of a group of students. However, he never went to university. Djokovic founded the Novak Djokovic Foundation in 2007, to help deprived children in Serbia to get an education. He also provided resources to them to lead healthy lives.

Personal life of Novak Djokovic:

In 2005 Novak Djokovic, the tennis player met Jelena Ristic and started dating her. Later In 2013 Novak and Jelena were engaged. In 2014 when Novak Dj won the Wimbledon championship, he then married Jelena on July 10. In the same year, he became the father of a son named Stefan on October 21. And in 2017 on September 2 he was blessed with a baby girl name Tara. He also owned the membership of the Serbian Orthodox Christian Church. Novak Djokovic has two younger brothers Djordje and Marko, they also play tennis, but they don’t have such great achievements like their brother.

Career Highlights:

At the age of 14, he started his tennis career. Novak Djokovic became the champion of the European single, double competition and also won the team competition in 2001. Also, while he was playing the team competition for Yugoslavia at the World Junior Championship, he won the silver medal. At a very young age of 16, he got the rank of 40th best junior tennis player in the world when he won five ITF tournaments.

In Budapest, he won his first Association of Tennis Professional (ATP) Challenger tournament in the year 2004, as a qualifier. In the same year at Wimbledon, he qualified for the third round, where he moved up in the ranking to the Top 100.

Novak Djokovic also played the semifinals of French Open and Wimbledon in the season of 2007. He defeated the three top players (Rafael Nadal, Andy Roddick, and Roger Federer) and won the title of second Masters in Montreal. This achievement made him no.3 player in the world. In Beijing Olympics, during the year 2008, he competed for Serbia where he won a bronze medal while playing singles tennis. Novak Djokovic consecutively won 43 matches and became the only player in the world to achieve this score in 2011. In the same year, he became World’s number 1 player after winning the Australian Open, Wimbledon and the U.S Open.

Novak Djokovic Holds 4 Major Slams on three different surfaces:

In the list of his achievements, the first thing to mention is that he was a holder of all four Grand Slams on three different surfaces. Tennis star Novak Djokovic ultimately won his first title of French Open which completed his career Grand Slam. He was also the man who became the very first Serbian professional tennis player in the history of (ATP) to hold three Majors on different surfaces. Another achievement is that he also won the title of (ATP) Tour Finals in his kitty at that time.

Rio Olympics 2016:

The authorities of the Olympics eliminated Djokovic suddenly out of his Olympic dreams; which left the fans in shock and grief and the fans felt upset. Juan Martin Del Potro defeated Novak Djokovic by a score of 7-6 on the second day of the Olympics Competition. This defeat left him in extreme sorrow and he left the playing court in tears. But still, he with his heavy heart, told the reporters that Delpo was a better player and the one who deserved to win the match. He also added that he was not happy that he lost the game. But still, a good feeling hits his heart that one of his friends who faced a severe injury has won.

Within no time Novak Dj became the first Serbian professional tennis player. He achieved great success and reached the top levels of the sports world. He won many titles of (ATP), and matches that led him to be the no.1 ranked Serbian professional tennis player.  The only field of sports in which tennis star Novak Djokovic is not among the best is the netplay. But with time he has improved himself in this field too. He got many awards and also won many medals that led him to the sky of success. It was his hard work that led him to such a successful status and life.
